Ledger

Use Ledger privately

Keep the Ledger you already use. Redacted gives it a private account with no visible link to your public address, and from there you swap, trade, borrow and earn.

Your Ledger address, public and private

Hardware wallet that keeps your keys on the device. People keep Bitcoin, Ether, RUNE and coins on many other chains in it, and all of it sits behind a public address.

How it works with Ledger

  1. 1

    Connect Ledger

Connect your Ledger in the app, directly or through MetaMask, Rabby or Keplr. There is no sign-up and no new seed phrase.

  2. 2

    Sign once

You confirm one message on your Ledger. It is free and not a transaction, and that signature alone unlocks your private account.

  3. 3

    Deposit to the Reserve

Move coins from Ledger into the Reserve. It is the one action your public wallet signs.

  4. 4

    Use DeFi privately

Swap, trade, borrow and earn from your private account, and withdraw back to your wallet whenever you want.

Why Redacted works this way

Financial privacy, the way the cypherpunks meant it

In the early 1990s the cypherpunks argued that an open society needs people to be able to pay and trade without broadcasting their lives. Public blockchains made every balance and every trade visible by default. Redacted keeps the activity on-chain and the rules public, and takes the person out of the picture.

Open to anyone

Anyone with a wallet can use Redacted, with no sign-up and no identity check. The rules are public and the same for every user, and withdrawals are always open.

Proofs instead of trust

Your browser proves every action with a zero-knowledge proof. Nobody holds your keys or can spend your notes, and the code is open source for anyone to check.

Nodes decide

Independent nodes approve deposits after the checks they choose. New money waits about two hours, which makes a deposit harder to match to what you do next.

Questions

Do I need a new wallet to use Ledger privately?+

No. You keep using Ledger. Your private account comes from one signature with it, so there is no new seed phrase and no sign-up.

Does signing in cost anything?+

No. The sign-in is a message, not a transaction. Moving coins from Ledger into the Reserve is a normal transaction with that network's fee.

Can people still see my Ledger address?+

Yes. Your address and the deposit into the Reserve stay public like any transaction. What changes is everything after it: actions from your private account have no visible link back to your Ledger address.

How do I connect my Ledger?+

Directly in the app, or through MetaMask, Rabby or Keplr. You confirm the sign-in message on the device and its keys never leave it. If you want the Ledger to confirm every unlock too, choose Passkey and wallet as your unlock setting.
