Is your wallet exposed?
Paste a Bitcoin, Ethereum or THORChain address and see what anyone can learn from it, from its balance and every payment to the exchanges it uses and your time zone.
Runs in your browser. redacted.gg never sees the address: your browser asks public explorers like mempool.space and Blockscout directly.
- 100%
- of Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses are public
- Forever
- every payment stays on-chain
- One leak
- is all it takes to put a name on one
What the check looks at
Eight things a stranger can read from one address. All of them are public on any block explorer.
Balance
What the address holds right now, in coins and tokens, and what it held at every moment before.
History
Every payment in and out, with its amount and date, since the first one.
Public name
A readable name such as an ENS name that points at the address.
Exchanges
Payments to or from an exchange, which knows its customers by name.
Other chains
The same 0x address on Base, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and Avalanche.
Linked addresses
Bitcoin addresses spent together with yours, and payments that keep landing on the same address.
Apps
The DeFi apps it uses, from swaps to loans.
Time zone
When it sends. Six quiet hours a day usually mean sleep.
Every wallet is public. Get private now.
Keep the wallet you have. Sign one message, then swap, trade, borrow and earn from a private account with no visible link back to it.
Questions
Is the check private?+
It runs in your browser. Your browser asks mempool.space for Bitcoin (Blockstream if it is slow), Blockscout for Ethereum, PublicNode for the other EVM chains and the public THORChain endpoint at api.redacted.money for THORChain directly, so redacted.gg never sees the address and keeps nothing. Those services see your IP address and the address you check, as they would if you opened an explorer yourself. Prices come from mempool.space, Blockscout or Coinbase, without the address. Use Tor or a VPN if that matters to you.
Why is my wallet public at all?+
Bitcoin and Ethereum are public ledgers. Every balance and every transaction is visible to anyone, forever, which is what lets anyone verify them. An address is not a name, but one link to you, such as an exchange account, a payment to a friend or a post with your address, is enough to put a name on all of it.
What are linked addresses?+
When a Bitcoin transaction spends coins from several addresses at once, all of them almost always belong to the same wallet. Chain analysis uses this to group addresses under one owner. The check shows the addresses that were spent together with yours.
How is the score calculated?+
Each finding adds points: what the address holds, how much it has been used, a public name, links to exchanges, activity on other chains, linked or reused addresses, the apps it uses, its counterparties and a daily rhythm. The total is capped at 100. It is a rough guide to how much a stranger can learn, not a measurement.
Can I make an address I already use private?+
No. What is on-chain stays there. What you can change is what comes next: with Redacted you move coins into the Reserve and act from a private account with no visible link to your address. The deposit itself stays public, like any transaction.
Which coins does the check support?+
Bitcoin, Ethereum and THORChain, including ERC-20 tokens and ENS names. For an Ethereum address it also checks the same address on Base, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and Avalanche, and for a THORChain address the coins it holds from other chains. Redacted itself works with many more coins on THORChain.
How accurate is the time zone?+
It is a hint. Six quiet hours a day usually mean sleep, but bots, travel, night shifts and too few transactions blur it, so the check only shows it when the pattern is clear and spread over several days.
