What is Private Mode in Redacted?

Private Mode is the private side of Redacted. You open it with one wallet signature that creates your private keys in your browser, and after that zero-knowledge proofs authorize every action, so your wallet has nothing more to sign.

How sign-in works

Tap the ghost icon, then Sign to Unlock. The message begins “Sign in to Redacted”, it is free and it is not a transaction. The signature derives your private keys right in your browser, the same keys every time, and nothing is sent anywhere or recorded on-chain.

Why it matters for privacy and safety

  • There is no server session. Root keys, passphrases and proof witnesses never leave your browser.
  • After 15 minutes without activity, private access locks itself, and locking it by hand is instant and free.
  • The sign-in signature is your master key and works like a seed phrase, so sign it only in the official app.
  • Make an encrypted backup right after your first sign-in. Another wallet app can produce a different signature, and with it a different account.

Status

Sign-in works today. Optional passkeys arrive with the launch: they can protect the session on one device, for example before money leaves, and add no key on the chain.
