# What is a stealth address?

A stealth address is a one-time address created for a single payment, so payments to the same person cannot be linked on-chain, while the sender only needs the receiver’s public address.

## How it works

The receiver publishes one public meta-address. For each payment, the sender combines it with fresh randomness to derive a new address that only the receiver can find and spend from. On-chain, every payment lands on a different address.

## Standards

On Ethereum, ERC-5564 describes a common format for stealth addresses, so wallets can support them the same way.

## In Redacted

One-time receive addresses are coming with the Redacted SDK: unlimited, valid for good and on any connected chain, all landing in one private balance, so every counterparty can get their own.
